Underwater Connector Technology News (English Version)

1. Shanghai Jiao Tong University’s "Sea Bell Project" 3,500m Deep-Sea Wet-Mate Connector Successfully Completes Sea Trial (Apr 2026)

Targeting the networking demands of 3,500m deep-sea neutrino detection arrays, 5 sets of domestic wet-mate connectors have finished dynamic mating tests.

The trial verified electrical conduction, seawater insulation and optical communication functions, providing critical data for the finalization of high-end domestic wet-mate connectors.

2. AVIC Jonhon Optronic’s Full-Ocean-Depth Connector Technology Wins 2025 Henan Science and Technology Progress First Prize (Apr 2026)

It has conquered three core technical systems: 110MPa full-ocean-depth high-pressure sealing, precision mating and long-term biofouling resistance.

It realizes plug-and-play high-reliability connection for 10,000-meter-level hadal zones, filling the domestic gap in full-ocean-depth connectors.

3. Guizhou Space Appliances Launches Cross-Medium Deep-Sea Sealed Connector (Apr 2026)

Released YSG‑JL/YM series connectors, adopting a ratchet anti-loosening + sliding docking structure with strong vibration resistance and low mating torque.

Suitable for air-water-land cross-medium unmanned system cluster applications; insulation resistance ≥5000MΩ, operating temperature: -55℃ ~ +125℃.

4. Hhai Telecom Kilometer-Level Optoelectronic Wet-Mate Connector Completes Sea Trial (Oct 2025)

The 12-core optoelectronic connector achieved stable mating over 30 times at kilometer-level deep sea, with optical insertion loss < 0.25dB (50% better than international standard) and insulation resistance > 50GΩ (5 times the international standard).

It breaks the 40-year overseas monopoly, with independent controllability of core sealing materials and anti-corrosion housings.

5. Xi’an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics, CAS: Streamer Discharge Suppression Technology for HVDC Wet Connectors (Sep 2025)

Established a time-dependent thermoelectric dynamic electric field molecular ionization model, revealing the mechanism of streamer discharge in high-voltage insulating oil.

Proposed adopting 0.1–0.2mm PTFE coating to restrain streamer growth, or epoxy resin capacitance grading to reduce electric field peak value, solving the insulation failure problem of 3,000-meter-level HVDC connection.

6. Hhai Telecom Releases Full Range of 4,000m-Level Wet-Mate Connectors (Jun 2025)

Product lineup covers 12-core electrical, 12-core optical and 16-core optoelectronic hybrid types, supporting 25-year maintenance-free operation at 4,000m deep sea.

Its optoelectronic core density reaches world-leading level, compatible with ROV automatic mating, and has been applied in offshore oil & gas and deep-sea observation networks.

7. CSS Launches Large Thin-Wall Pipeline Remote Connector (Jun 2025)

Launched MORGRIP® 3000Ri series, one design compatible with multiple specifications of 8″/14″/20″ thin-wall pipelines for deep-sea pipeline emergency maintenance.

Equipped with interchangeable sealing components to reduce customization costs, passing factory acceptance and water pressure tests.
