Pen Installation Best Practice

Route submarine power cables along pen mooring lines using UV-resistant cable ties at 0.5 m intervals — this prevents cable loops forming in tidal current that accumulate hard fouling and chafe on pen net attachment points. Allow a 10–15% length surplus in each pen drop to accommodate tidal height variation and pen movement in swell without placing the cable under tension.

Connector Selection

Fish farm seawater is highly corrosive — use marine-grade stainless steel connector bodies or glass-filled nylon connector housings rated for continuous seawater immersion. Avoid zinc alloy or aluminium alloy connector bodies that corrode rapidly in salt water.
