Our 1500V DC tinned copper solar PV cable range spans six cross-sections from 2.5 mm² to 25 mm² — providing a complete single-source supply of DC string and main cables for the full range of photovoltaic system sizes from residential (2.5 mm², 4 mm²) through commercial (6 mm², 10 mm²) to utility-scale DC main cable applications (16 mm², 25 mm²). All sizes feature tinned Class 5 copper conductors and XLPO insulation and sheath, TUV approved to EN 50618 / H1Z2Z2-K.
The 25 mm² size fills the gap between standard string cable sizes and medium-voltage DC collector cables — it is the recommended specification for combiner box output feeders, DC main cables between combiner boxes and string inverters in multi-MW systems, and DC bus connections in large battery energy storage systems (BESS) connected to solar PV plants.
| Size | Max Current (90°C free air) | Primary Use |
|---|---|---|
| 2.5 mm² | ~28A | Short residential string runs, MLPE wiring |
| 4 mm² | ~38A | Standard residential and commercial strings |
| 6 mm² | ~46A | Long string runs, bifacial module strings |
| 10 mm² | ~63A | High-current strings, combiner input |
| 16 mm² | ~85A | Combiner output, short DC main cables |
| 25 mm² | ~110A | DC main feeders, BESS connections |
String cable selection (2.5–6 mm²) is driven by string current, cable length, and voltage drop budget. Combiner feeder and DC main cable selection (10–25 mm²) is driven by aggregated parallel string current, installation method (free air vs bundled vs buried), and ambient temperature de-rating. For projects above 500 kWp, a professional voltage drop and cable sizing calculation per IEC 60364-7-712 is strongly recommended to optimise cable sizing across the entire DC collection network.
