Our TUV approved solar panel PV cable range covers the full spectrum of single-core cross-sections used in photovoltaic DC wiring — from 4 mm² for residential string wiring to 16 mm² for high-current combiner box output and DC main cable applications. Each size carries independent TUV Rheinland approval to EN 50618 (H1Z2Z2-K designation), rated at 1500V DC with a Class 5 tinned copper conductor and XLPO insulation and sheath.
The availability of multiple cross-sections from a single qualified product range simplifies procurement and documentation for EPCs (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) contractors managing multi-MW solar projects — all sizes share the same EN 50618 test certificate, datasheet, and supplier approval, reducing the documentation burden for IEC 61215 / IEC 61730 system compliance packages.
| Cross-section | Typical Use | Approx. Ampacity (90°C, free air) |
|---|---|---|
| 4 mm² | Residential & small commercial string wiring | ~38A |
| 6 mm² | Commercial string, long string runs | ~46A |
| 10 mm² | High-current strings, combiner input | ~63A |
| 16 mm² | Combiner output, DC main cable (short runs) | ~85A |
For string wiring, calculate maximum string current (module Isc × 1.25 safety factor) and select a cross-section with ampacity >15% headroom at your installation ambient temperature. For combiner output and DC main cables carrying multiple strings in parallel, apply the IEC 60364-7-712 current rating de-rating factors for grouped cables in conduit or buried installation, then select accordingly.
