Rubber Spreader basket cable

Rubber Spreader Basket Cable — Heavy-Duty Flexible Cable for Container Handling Equipment

Rubber spreader basket cables are specialist heavy-duty flexible power and control cables engineered for the extreme demands of container crane spreaders, reach stackers, and rubber-tyred gantry crane basket assemblies. These cables endure millions of flexing cycles in free-hanging basket configurations, exposure to sea air, rain, oil, and heavy mechanical impacts — while maintaining reliable power and signal transmission to spreader motor drives and sensors.

Constructed with extra-fine-wire stranded copper conductors, EPDM rubber insulation, integrated power and control cores, and a robust neoprene outer sheath. Available in combined power (up to 6 mm²) and control (0.5–1.5 mm²) configurations, with optional shielded signal cores and earth monitoring conductors.

Key Design Features

  • Extra-fine-wire Class 6 copper power and control conductors
  • EPDM rubber insulation for all cores — salt spray and UV resistant
  • Robust neoprene outer sheath with excellent abrasion and oil resistance
  • Combined power and control core configuration in a single cable
  • Optional overall copper braided screen for EMC protection of signal cores
  • Rated 0.6/1 kV power cores; 300/500V control cores
  • Temperature range ‑40°C to +90°C; suitable for tropical and arctic port climates

Selection Guide

Free-Hanging vs Cable Festoon Configurations

Spreader basket cables operate in free-hanging mode — unlike festoon cables on hangers. The cable must support its own weight while flexing, making conductor class and lay length critical parameters. Always specify the free-hanging length and number of daily cycles when requesting a custom design.
