S / SO / SOW / SOO / SOOW Rubber Sheathed Flexible Cable — North American Standard

The S-series rubber portable power cables are hard-usage and extra-hard-usage flexible cables manufactured to UL 62 / CSA C22.2 No. 49 for the North American market. Fine-wire stranded copper conductors insulated with vulcanised rubber or EPDM compound are protected by oil-resistant, flame-retardant rubber outer jackets.

SOOW designates oil-resistant jacket on both insulation and outer sheath, rated for continuous operation in wet locations. Cross-sections range from 18 AWG to 2/0 AWG; 2 to 4 conductors.

Selection Guide

Choosing the Right S-Type

For standard indoor portable use, S or SO is sufficient. For outdoor or wet environments, SOW adds weather resistance. For oil-immersed or heavy oil-spray conditions, choose SOOW for maximum protection on both layers.
