The MCDC3F is a 3-pin female wet-mate dummy connector — commonly known as an underwater dummy plug — from RV POWER's Micro Circular Series. Designed to seal and protect unused electrical bulkhead ports on ROVs, AUVs, subsea junction boxes, and marine equipment, the MCDC3F prevents water ingress at de-energized connection points without requiring dry-mate conditions. The wet-mateable design allows insertion and removal underwater at depth.

Wet-Mate Dummy Connectors: Why They Matter

Every subsea electrical system accumulates unused bulkhead ports during system integration — sensor cables are disconnected for transport, tool circuits are decommissioned between missions, and vehicle configurations change. Without protection, these open bulkhead ports become critical failure points: seawater intrusion causes short circuits, corrosion of contact pins, and catastrophic failure of the entire electrical system.

Wet-mate dummy plugs like the MCDC3F solve this problem by sealing unused ports with a matching dummy connector that mates in the water.
