Medium voltage drum reeling cables 3.6/6 kV to 12/20 kV. EPR super-clean insulation, semiconductor field control, rubber sheath. Up to 180 m/min, 20–25 N/mm². Container cranes, RTGs, port drives.
Medium voltage (MV) drum reeling cables are required where large crane drive power exceeds what a 0.6/1 kV system can deliver economically — particularly for ship-to-shore cranes, large rubber-tyred gantry cranes, and port electrification projects operating from 6 kV, 10 kV, or 20 kV supply systems. Unlike standard MV cables, MV reeling cables must simultaneously withstand continuous drum flexing, tensile loading, and torsional stress on the reel.
Our MV reeling cable range covers both standard-duty types (equivalent to the PROTOLON family) and high-dynamic-load types (equivalent to the TENAX TTS family) — all with EPR super-clean insulation, semiconductor field-control layers, and rubber outer sheaths rated for outdoor crane environments.

Super-clean EPR insulation eliminates the voids and contaminants that cause partial discharge — critical for long-term reliability at medium voltage, where PD is the primary ageing mechanism.
Inner and outer semiconductive rubber layers ensure a smooth, uniform electric field around each conductor — preventing field concentration at stranding irregularities that causes insulation failure in flexible cables.
Standard MV cables cannot tolerate drum reel torsion — the field-control layers crack and separate. The anti-torsion braid and flexible rubber compounds maintain insulation system integrity through millions of flex cycles.
The high-dynamic TENAX-type specification (red/stripe sheath) provides 25 N/mm² peak tensile — 67% more than the standard type — for fast-accelerating container crane drives where cable snap loads exceed steady-state values during emergency stops.
